In early May 2011 I noticed that President Jacob Zuma had a twitter account. Given the experiences of former ANCYL President Julius Malema and many others who claimed spoof Twitter accounts were opened under their names, I didn’t want to take chances.
Like Julius Malema who said stuff and sang songs that are likely cost him his position as President of the ruling African National Congress Youth League – Mark Esterhuysen, too, did the same when he was swearing away his job as a newsreader at Primedia’s Radio702. This must have taken guts, courage and planning.
The African National Congress on Friday confirmed it had charged its youth league President Julius Malema and spokesperson Floyd Shivambu for sowing divisions and bringing the party into disrepute.
The ruling African National Congress reacted (as usual?) to a Mail & Guardian newspaper report on 3 September last year. At the time, too, I though there was something amiss about the said report but its editor, Nic Dawes, had a different take on the issue.
In March last year, the Freedom Front Plus laid a hate speech complaint against African National Congress Youth League President Julius Malema and even called for his prosecution.
